Scrum masters or tech leads running a planning-poker round.

Sprint Poker is Ekko's built-in planning-poker tool. The host stays inside Sprint Planning; voters get a clean, mobile-friendly card-picker by following a link or QR code. Votes, reveal, and consensus all happen live.

Sessions are scoped to a single sprint. When the host moves on to a different sprint, the session ends automatically — so you never accidentally leak votes from last week's session into this week's.

Starting a session

  1. Open Sprint Planning and pick the sprint you are estimating.
  2. Select the task you want to vote on first.
  3. In the task sidebar, click "Start voting on this task". Ekko creates a Sprint Poker session attached to this sprint and makes you the host.
  4. A modal opens with a QR code, a shareable link, and the voting cards.
  5. Share the link or QR with your team. They join from any device — phones included.

Voting

Voters land on a clean full-bleed surface — just the card deck, the active issue, and a status indicator. They tap a card to cast a vote.

  • Votes stay hidden from everyone (including the host) until reveal.
  • A voter can change their pick until the host reveals.
  • Live participant count appears in the host's header so you know who is still thinking.

Reveal, discuss, finalize

  1. Once all votes are in (or you are ready), click Reveal in the host view.
  2. Every vote becomes visible, with the spread of values shown as chips.
  3. Discuss outliers. Disagree on points? Re-deal — click Reset to clear votes and run another round.
  4. When you agree, click Set Consensus and pick a value. Ekko writes that value to the issue's Story Points field in Jira immediately.
  5. Click Skip if the team decides to defer the issue, or Next Issue to advance to the next task in the legend.

Ending the session

  • Click End Session in the host modal to wrap up — voters see a friendly "session ended" screen.
  • Switching to a different sprint automatically ends your session — Ekko assumes you have moved on.
  • Closing the tab/refreshing ends the session (with a small grace period in case it is a transient refresh).
  • Sessions that go quiet expire via TTL — typically within an hour or so — so abandoned sessions never linger.

The voter experience

Voters do not need an Ekko or Jira admin to set up anything for them — they just need to be logged into Jira in this site (the link uses Forge's usual sign-in).

  • No side nav, no clutter. Just the active task, the cards, and a "leave" button.
  • Mobile-first layout — works in landscape and portrait, large tap targets.
  • Auto-rejoins if the page reloads.
